Hi, reader!
If you were to lay out all of the arteries, capillaries and veins in one adult, end-to-end, they would stretch about 60,000 miles (100,000 kilometers).
By comparison, the circumference of the Earth is about 25,000 miles (40,000 km). That means a person's blood vessels could wrap around the planet approximately 2.5 times!
With that, welcome to the 40th newsletter! This one is all about redemption.
A story.
Bob Hoover was a famous American fighter pilot in WWII and, after serving, became a test pilot. In 1989, during one of his test runs, both of his engines failed midair. Using his superior flight skills, he somehow managed to safely land the plane, saving himself and the 2 others with him.
Bob quickly determined what caused the issue: the incorrect fuel was used - resulting in the engines seizing up and almost certain death.
Bob went back to the airfield and found the man who fueled his plane pre-flight. By this time, the man knew he had made a grave mistake and was ready to face the consequences. Bob left the man speechless by saying:
“There isn’t a man alive who hasn’t made a mistake. But I’m positive you’ll never make this mistake again. That’s why I want to make sure that you’re the only one to refuel my plane tomorrow. I won’t let anyone else on the field touch it.”
A thought.
Our reaction to others making a mistake: “They messed up and I’m sure they will do it again.”
Our reaction to ourselves making a mistake: “I’ll never do that again.”
We tend to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt, but rarely others.
Who in your life deserves redemption?
A quote.
“Giving the benefit of the doubt is useful when we don’t have the full story. And we never know the full story.”
